Your hair & your lifestyle
There are other factors to consider when choosing a wig, such as how often you plan on wearing your wig, as well as your ability to
style your hair
Your Lifestyle
These questions, as well as others concerning your work, recreational and social activity, may help you determine which style to choose. Be sure to keep your typical daily or weekly activities in mind as you try different wigs.
For instance, if you are particularly active, you may prefer a SOFTouch® style with the special non-slip liner for guaranteed security. If you live in a warm, humid climate or are wearing your wig during the summer, you might consider a WhisperLite® style for its cool, airy feel.
For no-fuss hair that you can throw on and go, try a very short style. If you would like to be able to change your look from time to time, consider one of our monofilament wigs which feature hand-tied fibers that you can comb different ways
Styling ability
How comfortable are you with styling your own hair? The wig you choose should be one you can style easily. While shorter styles require very little effort, mid-length or longer styles may need combing or brushing and regular conditioning to keep the look fresh.
If you are not accustomed to spending that much time on your hair, you’ll appreciate the ease of a short, synthetic style. However, if you’re accustomed to styling your hair regularly and want a longer style or a human hair style, it's certainly an option.
Customizing your style
Because everyone’s features and face shapes are unique, it’s common for some wigs to require some minimal trimming or shaping. Keep this in mind as you begin looking at wigs.
Once you’ve selected your style, you will have what’s called a “fitting,” in which you and your stylist will determine if any areas need trimming – particularly the hair that falls around the face and neck. Your stylist can also thin out thicker areas if necessary.
Do not attempt to reshape or trim a wig on your own. Wig cutting and shaping should only be performed by a trained stylist.
